After spending the holidays at home, No. 3 Iowa State is ready to hit the road for its Big 12 Conference opener on Monday night.

And Cyclones coach T.J. Otzelberger knows exactly what he wants his players to pack. It's not a tangible item such as shirts or socks, but more of a mindset that can help his team succeed in a hostile environment.

"When you enter into league play, I think it becomes even more important when you go on the road that you're a team that focuses on getting stops on the defensive end of the floor," Otzelberger said. "You hear all the time people will say, 'Defense travels.'"

Iowa State (10-1) and Colorado (9-2) will meet for the second time this season when they tip off Monday in Boulder, Colo.
